END ISOLATION NOW

Solitary

is Torture

Damaging

An overwhelming body of evidence shows that solitary confinement causes extreme and often permanent damage to those who endure it

Biased

People of color, LGBTQ+, youth, and those with disabilities or mental health disorders are disproportionately subjected to solitary confinement

Ineffective

Data demonstrates that the practice does not reduce violence or encourage good behavior. Instead it worsens already existing issues

Our Goal

Is to end solitary confinement in ALL Michigan prisons, jails, and juvenile detention facilities, bringing our state into full compliance with the UN's Mandela Rules
